Apostle Islands & Madeline Island

Take a boat tour of the Apostle Island National Lakeshore with Apostle Islands Cruises and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, the sea caves, and the historic lighthouses. Ride the Madeline Island Ferry for a day at the beach and Madeline Island exploration. Or, when they are accessible, hike out to the frozen Ice Caves in the winter.

Explore and experience the great outdoors as you hike, bike, downhill or XC ski, snowshoe, kayak, fish, hit the beaches, visit the orchards and farms, and visit some of Wisconsin’s most spectacular waterfalls around the south shores of Lake Superior. Bayfield’s famous tent show, Big Top Chautauqua, provides top national, touring, and local musical talent at the base of Mt. Ashwabay overlooking the Big Lake. Spend the evening enjoying fabulous music and Big Top foods, snacks, and beverages ~ a great way to wrap up an exciting day in the Bayfield area. ATV / UTV

Ride from Woodside Cottages of Bayfield!

Enjoy the incredible scenery in Bayfield County, “Home of Wisconsin’s National Treasures.” Over 180 miles of ATV trails (PLUS hundreds of miles of Forest Roads) provide year ’round fun with frequent opportunities to stop at scenic vistas and great restaurants. Our trails are maintained by dedicated volunteers from area clubs in cooperation with the County Forestry & Parks Dept. and the USDA Forest Service.

Many designated ATV trails and all road routes in Bayfield County are also open to registered UTVs. Trails and roads under National Forest jurisdiction are open to UTVs 50 inches wide or less.

Ride the hundreds of miles of state and forest trails, all in our vast wilderness away from the crowds.
Please note:  Woodside Cottages are not located on the trail system so snowmobiles must be transported to designated trail sites.
